There is a clarification on “How did NEET paper leak 2024?”. The Trail Begins in Patna
The investigation started with Baldev Kumar, a resident of Nalanda district residing in Patna. He’s believed to be connected to Sanjeev Kumar, the alleged leader of the “solver gang” also known as the “Luten Mukia Gang.” Sanjeev is accused of orchestrating multiple interstate paper leaks. Interestingly, Baldev received a PDF file containing the solved question paper on his phone on the very morning of the exam, May 5th.
The “Learn Boys Hostel and Play School” – A Drop-off Point
The plan involved printing copies of the solved paper from a Wi-Fi printer and keeping them hidden in a safe house โ the “Learn Boys Hostel and Play School” situated on the outskirts of Patna. The gang then established a discreet drop-off point around 2 kilometers away, where candidates were brought by taxi to memorize the answers before being returned. The taxi driver, Mukesh Kumar, was apprehended along with his vehicle used for transporting the candidates.
Matching the Burnt Scraps: Connecting the Dots
The investigation took a crucial turn when partially burned papers were discovered. Forensics matched 68 out of an estimated 200 questions retrieved from the burnt remains with the original question paper provided by the National Testing Agency (NTA) to the EOU. This led the trail to Jharkhand, where investigators uncovered a crucial detail.
A Delivery Mix-Up in Jharkhand
According to sources in the Jharkhand police, the EOU found irregularities in the operations of a career company operating between Ranchi and Hazaribag. This company was entrusted with delivering nine packets containing question papers to secure locations, in this case, two public sector banks. However, instead of delivering the packets to the banks, the transport company dropped them off at a sub-center of the career company itself. CCTV footage revealed this exchange happening on May 3rd.
The EOU questioned the courier company about this discrepancy, but they claimed no control over the driver’s delivery route.
From Leaked Paper to Aspirants: The Network
Baldev Kumar, along with others believed to be members of the solver gang, were subsequently arrested. They allegedly procured the leaked paper, solved it with experts, and passed it on to two other individuals โ Nitish Kumar and Amit Anand. These two, along with four examinees initially apprehended, were reportedly connected to Nitish and Amit by another key accused, Sikander P Yadavendu.
As of now, the investigation is ongoing under the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), with a total of 18 arrests made so far. This case highlights the potential existence of a widespread network involved in compromising the integrity of examinations.
